Maroa-Forsyth at Bismarck-Henning

November 2, 2009 at 1:57 pm

Bismarck-Henning was one of a number of 5-4 teams to make it out of the first round. Will the Blue Devils be able to do it again against a Maroa-Forsyth team that is using all of its weapons?

Trojans are playing together as a team and getting the results that have been expected! DO NOT overlook this Bismarck-Henning team (just think about Staunton.) play your game-Trojans and you WILL WIN!!

Go head Maroa you can over look Bismark-H, your not Staunton. If Staunton were in the ovc they would only have gotten 2 or 3 wins at most, right?

This should be a good game. MF is overrated and BH is peaking at the right time. It could be interesting!

Trojans by 4 touchdowns, and no I’m not kidding.

beardog — no TROJAN HATERS allowed!! poor dawgs!! not a blog of your own to brag and assume that you will “roll” past your opponent………hahaha!! BTW I do BELIEVE that MF is just (at the right time of the season) reaching their “PEAK” so look-out!

Beardog hasn’t even seen the Trojans play this year, so his opinion means jack crap. I’ll also go out on a limb and say he hasn’t seen Bismark play either. So you can pretty much ignore anything he says about the Trojans or any other Okaw team for that matter.

BH is peaking at the right time. If you are going to win might as well do it in the playoffs. Everybody might as well be 1-0 at this point. That means you practice and prepare for every team like they are number 1. I agree though that if BH was in the OVC they wouldnt be in the playoffs! It is a great conference and after going 5-1 in the first round, nobody can argue it now. Now lets see how many quarterfinalist we will have after this week! Go Trojans! Practice hard and play hard and winning will take care of itself!

  13. WarriorFan says:
    November 2nd, 2009 at 7:28 pm

This is a running clock. This was a 5-4 team from a bad conference. BH was the only team to notch a victory out of all the teams that made it in their conference. Salt Fork, Milford, and Oakwood. All whom were 8-1, and all whom were pounded by teams with a 6-3 record.

Barnes will have a hay day, and Maroa wins easily 42-6

  14. loop-t-lou says:
    November 2nd, 2009 at 8:24 pm

I agree with most of you on here. I’ve heard this Bismark team is like Warrensburg in OVC. THAT IS BAD! this team plays in a 1A 2A conference so they will get destroyed. MF by 5 touchdowns!

  15. Pana Grad says:
    November 2nd, 2009 at 9:16 pm

Saw Maroa play friday night and they looked very solid. Good luck in this round and so on!

  16. beast from the east says:
    November 2nd, 2009 at 9:18 pm

loop-t-lou, they have a 3a team i think in their conference….it’s very similar to the layout of the okaw. ask maroa about westville.

  17. Clown from the North says:
    November 2nd, 2009 at 9:51 pm

you mean when we beat them for our state title? lmao at beast from the east! you my friend better not get us going or your days of being on here with your little jabs will be over! think before u speak!

  18. loop-t-lou says:
    November 2nd, 2009 at 9:53 pm

Ok sorry, 1 3A team. And yes i’m sure maroa remembers westville only problem is that was two years ago and westville already got housed. so that’s irrelevant. Oh yea and that 3A team Fithian was 6-3 in mainly a 1/2A conference and failed to sohw up at their 1st round game against St Joe 48-8! I know that nothing is for sure in the playoffs but this game screams MF big win. It is at Bismark so that should help them a little but they only have one good back. They barely have a passing game and the only chance they have of winning is if MF has more than 4 turnovers.

  19. Clown from the North says:
    November 2nd, 2009 at 9:54 pm

BTW, where is your Westville at this year? I saw they made the playoffs! But they dont seem to be in the second round! Oh wait maybe I overlooked them! I will check again!

nope they are still not there! What team from the east are u supporting now Beast from the east? bwahahahahahaaaa

p.s. maroa fans might as well leave their hopes and dreams in the semi’s, because IF they make it that far….their season is over!

  22. beast from the east says:

  23. A@M is BACK! says:
    November 3rd, 2009 at 1:45 am

MTF, you can..take this game! …just dont “take this game” for granted. B-H had the toughest opponent W/L record in 2A of 48-33, they also were the only team to play 6 play-off bound teams. they stole one on the road, and I dont see them laying down at home…your going to have to knock them down! I’m on the Go Okaw Wagon….just dont let the wheel fall off …Get it Done!

  24. Tuscola Alum says:
    November 3rd, 2009 at 8:19 am

Good luck Trojans! It appears you’re peking at the right time. I think when you played Tuscola, it was the first game back for Barnes, everyone was still trying to find their role. Since that game, your roles have been defined and you’re playing some great fottball. Continue making progress and you can run the table!

  25. Clown from the North says:
    November 3rd, 2009 at 11:44 am

Beast from the East, lets see we had a title year and no less the quarters since! And personally I think Porta is overlooking CAM. Looking towards MF. If that is the case CAM wins by a couple of TDS…and I love it, you say no further than the semis yet we play Porta in the quarters if we win and they win! Beast you need to go back in your I hate the OVC cave and remain there until your team can play up to the level of the OVC! We still have 5 teams left in the playoffs! Can your conference say that?

  26. Crossbones says:
    November 3rd, 2009 at 5:16 pm

MF has had an up and down season this year with all the drama that the team had been through with player getting into trouble and all. I do know that BH will come out and play a physical game and I don’t think that MF can handle that. It don’t matter if MF is peaking now or not. I just think that BH has a better smash mouth football team.

  27. Mike T. says:
    November 3rd, 2009 at 5:50 pm

    Crossbones,

Maybe MF will reconsider showing up for this one. Heck, if they can stay within 20 pts., if will be a moral victory. Do you have a prediction on the score?

  28. Stack I Gun says:
    November 3rd, 2009 at 7:12 pm

MF in an easy one. Watched them play friday and they won easily against a very good Carlinville team.

  29. Crossbones says:
    November 3rd, 2009 at 7:57 pm

I will say that it will be BH 26 MF 20. I also watched MF last week and they really didn’t impress me that much.

  30. Clown from the North says:
    November 3rd, 2009 at 8:12 pm

Crossbones, what part didnt impress u? I wonder if u will be on here Sunday? I bet not!

  31. Blue/Gold says:
    November 3rd, 2009 at 8:34 pm

Clown, I think Bones must have been flying the corporate jet from one game to another, Saturday. He sure saw a lot of games. What he refers to as an up and down season for us, was a darn good season to some teams that were 7-3, and out of the playoffs now. He also states that BH has a better smash mouth football team. Truth be known, I think that his ego is still deflated from the smash mouth football that we put on the last team we played, that had Crossbones as part of their team logo. Didn’t we hold Carlinville to 2 yards passing and stuffed their running game right down their throat? Go Trojans..Go Okaw.. Have Fun, Play Hard!!!

  32. beast from the east says:
    November 3rd, 2009 at 9:42 pm

clown, in your 2a/3a conference….yeah the team i support could compete….haha

  33. cwalum says:
    November 4th, 2009 at 7:22 am

clown: don’t get too full of yourselves just yet. You just beat down Carlinville sure. But I heard that Carlinville was just downright aweful. Heck, Marquette beat them by 2 touchdowns! You should win this one, but your season will end next week against PORTA.

  34. just4fun says:
    November 4th, 2009 at 7:32 am

cwalum — have you counted CAM out already? think that will be a good game for them against PORTA and wish all the okaws team good luck this week.

    November 4th, 2009 at 7:34 am

cwalum, your gonna look past CAM…Like they dont have a chance to see a win…well i got your porta,…porta-POTTY covered …just like running down the field, all PORTA potty will see are behinds

  36. A@M is BACK! says:
    November 4th, 2009 at 7:41 am

if their is one game that CAM wants to win bad, its this one…otherwise we dont get that re-match with MTF, and i’m sure MTF wants the same thing…or maybe they dont want to take that roll of the dice again…would just as well see Porta potty and ..squeeze one out their!

  37. loop-t-lou says:
    November 4th, 2009 at 7:43 am

Look don’t count anybody out. Carthage could lose this weekend! I’ve seen it time and time before especially in HS games that the overwhelming favorite loses because of a number of reasons. All it takes is a couple of turnovers or an injury to take an powerhouse down a level. I understand that everyone has their team or teams that they’re for but nothing is a given. Saying that I think that you can get a good read on a team by looking at their conference, who they’ve beaten and lost to, their team stats, and watching them play. And seeing evey Okaw playoff team at least once during the season and knowing the conference I believe that the two teams in 2A right now have the best shot at making a run to Champaign. Not saying that CW or PORTA or Williamsville won’t make it. Everyone has their opinions that what these Blogs are for, but know one really knows. Good luck to all teams this weekend.

Also it would be nice if people could actually back up their arguments with stats or facts or something. I personally would love to know more about both teams.

  38. cwalum says:
    November 4th, 2009 at 7:57 am

I’m not saying CAM can’t beat PORTA, but I just wouldn’t bet on it that’s all. I think if CAM does then MF should be worried.

  39. just4fun says:

I understand you cant help your pathetic conference! But when the time comes I really do believe you will be playing an Okaw team!

Our front 5 all run 5 flat or better in the 40 yrd dash. Its going to be a dry field! Clown from the north. I don’t know what you are thinking that you guys are going to win anyother state title. You know that you all had a very special team 2 years ago. YOU DON’T HAVE THAT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! MF will not have another team like that again.

  70. loop-t-lou says:
    November 4th, 2009 at 9:21 pm

Crossbones I think that they have as good of a chance as any of the other 15 teams left in their Class. I agree that that was a special team and they had all the pieces in place but state champs don’t have to be a perfect team. They have to be a good team playing their best football when it counts. Here’s an interesting stat though. All but one of the last nine 2A state champs have lost 1 game or less in their seasons. Last years Elmhurst team was 5-4 going in but played a lot of Chicago private schools. Every team is different every year so no they will never have a team like that again but that doesn’t mean they can’t have another title.

I’ll I could tell him is to expect alot of scoring from the offense and the defense bends. He mention that their best lineman is out with injury and their quick runny back which carried the ball once last week for a TD is also hurt. It almost sounds like an easy one for the mighty Trojans.

I see Bust a Trojan is still on here, that guy is like a leach, he just won’t let go! It’s amazing how he ripped on the Trojans all year now he’s routing for them. What’s up big boy!

Trojan Speed: I’m just trying to support the conference teams but you are making it difficult. I haven’t noticed this name on here so you must be a newcomer. By the way, you misspelled leach. It’s L-E-E-C-H! Get it right.

Return to Glory: Be careful with the smoking references. That could open a big ol’ can of worms.

Still think the Trojans smoke ‘em, 35-7. Oops, did I seriously type that?

To A@M who flippantly asked if there had been a town tragedy and suggested the team members were crybabies. This is one of those times you will wish you had bit your tongue. Northern Vermilion County is a small, close-knit community. A 17year old kid died of multiple trauma as a result of a head on collision with a semi. Most of the BH students knew him including a step-brother. How thoughtless can one person be?

Momma: my condolences to the family and friends of the 17 year-old boy. What a terrible tragedy! The towns of A&M also lost a former student on Friday morning in an automobile accident. An estimated 1500-1800 showed up at her visitation, which lasted six and a half hours.

This is not an excuse for A@M but I’m sure he/she had no idea that something this horrible had actually happened. I agree it was a poor choice of words and there is no excuse but no one can actually be that heartless to knowingly make that comment. Again, my condolences to the boy’s family and friends. Accidents like these should not happen to anyone, especially young people.

    Momma,

That is terrible for something like that to happen. Rest assured no one on here would have in any way shape or form said anything with regards to that incident except that they would be very sorry to hear it, and I am sure no one really new that relationship or anything else.

I could just about say that they didn’t drive by the town at all, and are just making conversation.

You on the other hand shouldn’t exploit that tragity for a reason to slam the integrity of someone else on this blogg. Give a little benefit of doubt that someone couldn’t be that cold.

Again, very sorry to hear about this terrible accident in your community.

Thank you cwalum for your support…you are indeed correct, i did say Carlinville and was referring to a “game” loss…I am sorry if my comment offended you, I in no way would compare a “loss of LIFE” to a game for ANY reason, especially for a sick attempt at humor. I am sorry for the families loss, and its affected community. I respect the closeness of your community. In that, we have common ground.

B-H had the toughest opponent W/L record in 2A of 48-33, they also were the only team to play 6 play-off bound teams. they stole one on the road, and I dont see them laying down at home…your going to have to knock them down! The most packed I’ve ever seen “The Boyd” is either 2007 matchup with Westville in the Quarters, or the 2005 matchup with STT both good games and close games. It doesn’t matter you should wipe the floor with BH.

  122. Mike T. says:
    November 7th, 2009 at 10:36 pm

    Loop-T-lou,

Then you obviously haven’t been to all of M-F’s big games….There was over 4,000 when we played at Tuscola (2007). Somewhere in the 5,000 range when ST. T. played at MF (2006). And there was 7,000 folks at the state title game (2006). That’s 3 other games that you didn’t bother to reference. Heck, how many was at the St. T game this past fall? Word from some of the St. T folks is that that was possibly the largest crowd they’ve seen in many years.

  123. loop-t-lou says:
    November 7th, 2009 at 11:55 pm

Actually, I was at all 4 of those games. And i guess i should’ve specified all games minus the State Title game. There were 3,000 at that Tuscola battle, and 3,000 at the STT playoff game. And this season’s regular season matchup with the Bulldogs was not the largest crowd ever. Probably 2,000 there. Now being that there are no Decatur area based teams left this weekends battle should draw a VERY large crowd. Probably the largest in recent history for an area football team. STT and MTZ fans should be there as well as nearly the entire towns of Moweaqua, Assumption, Maroa and Forsyth. I’m getting there at least an hour before to get a fence spot. Keep an eye out for a certain MF D coaches adjustments to fix that over 200 yards they gave up to Hayes. If MF has 0 turnovers I think they win handly.

  124. Mike T. says:
    November 8th, 2009 at 12:02 am

    Loop-t-lou,

How do you know how many folks are at a game when you are standing on the fence? Contact Tuscola and ask them how many was at that game. They will tell you that at least 4,000 people were there. And the REGULAR season game in 2006 vs. St. Teresa had AT LEAST 4,000 people, some estimates were as high as 6,000 but I’m not sure that was the case. I do agree that this weeks game will be one that could approach 3,000-5,000 people, depending on the weather. A day like today and there will be 5,000.

  125. Mike T. says:
    November 8th, 2009 at 12:09 am

    Ltl,

Other teams/towns that might be represented at this weeks game would include Decatur, Clinton, Warrensburg, Argenta, Monticello and Macon (Meridian) to name a few. But with you standing on the fence and counting, I’m sure you will top out at 3,000.

November 2nd, 2009 at 2:33 pm “Go head Maroa you can over look Bismark-H, your not Staunton. If Staunton were in the ovc they would only have gotten 2 or 3 wins at most, right?”

Yes, if Staunton was in the Okaw blue division (which they would be in) and had to play all of the blue division teams plus St. T, Tolono, Monticello and let’s say Clinton from the Black division, YES, they would only win 3 games (maybe). Would lose to Tolono, St. T, Monticello, Maroa-Forsyth, Tuscola and Central A & M. Instead of finishing 8-1 in their conference would finish 3-6 in the Okaw.

Also, congrats. to Tuscola, Tolono Unity, and of course our next opponent, the CAM Raiders! I feel the Okaw will get three teams in the semi-state, as I feel Tuscola & Tolono Unity are on a “roll”! As for the impending CAM-MTF matchup, I am sure CAM feels they are playing their best football of the year & they are eager to avenge their loss in week eight. I KNOW the MF Trojans are playing their best ball of the year & they are anxious to prove that they can beat a “stellar” program as the CAM Raiders twice in one year! Has all the makings for an ESPN “instant classic”! GO TROJANS! FIGHT ON!

Bismark-Henning players/fans seem to have much to look forward to from the comments/information I have read in the HR & the Champaign News-Gazette. Seems they have a primarily junior-sophomore roster, played in a conference with several playoff teams, defeated a #3 seed after making the playoffs. My advice is for all the players to get faster & stronger, especially faster. SPEED seems to be the #1 word I hear to improve any football program @ any level. Good Luck next season. ps. Hopefully a “taste” of the playoffs will be the incentive for the players to work hard in the off season.

It doesnt take much to make a Great 2A football team. Most of the monopoly schools like Maroa know how to take out the little powder puff playoff teams. Most 2A schools play in such awful conference that when the make the playoffs it the biggest career move that some these kids will ever experence. It like a free trip to Disney World. Good luck to Maroa and keep on winning in the weak predictable 2A playoffs

Sorry your team lost in an upper class, ie; 3A,4A,etc. These kids play in 2A because that is where their respective schools are placed, per the IHSA rules. Yes, it is a very big happening for these schools and their student athletes, as well as the communities in which they live. This is why they have High School Athletics, to build character, life enrichment, and memories. No, it’s not like a free trip to LA-LA Land. Every person involved, works tirelessly for months, to get to this point, in any given football season. As far as 2A being weak and predictable, look at the full IHSA Playoff Bracket, you will notice games, that nobody would have predicted the winners. Your statement, “It doesn’t take much to make a great 2A football team”, well, it’s obvious you’ve plain just never had to do it. Ask any of the very successful Coaches in 2A exactly what it takes, and be ready for a long list of ingredients. “It doesn’t take much”, SELL IT SOMEWHERE ELSE, and don’t be so bitter and jealous that you are in a class, that you are unable to compete. in fact, to make a statement like that, shows that you simply have NO CLASS!!

    2A PLAYOFFS IS WEAK….
ANY TEAM WITH 5 OR 6 VICTORIES IN A GIVEN YEAR IS NOT LIKELY A POWDER PUFF TEAM. ASK THE MT. ZION PLAYERS ABOUT THAT, UNDEFEATED UNTIL PLAYOFFS AND THEN ONE AND DONE.(TWICE)

FOR A 2A TEAM TO COMPETE YEAR AFTER YEAR TAKES A TREMENDOUS COMMITTMENT FROM THE COACHES AND A DEVELOPED ATTITUDE BY THE PLAYERS TO WORK TO IMPROVE THEIR SKILLS 12 MONTHS OF THE YEAR. YEAR AFTER YEAR.

THESE SCHOOLS TOTAL ENROLLMENT IS PRACTICALLY THE SAME NUMBER AS YOUR MUSICIANS IN YOUR MARCHING BAND (3A,4A SCHOOLS). GIVE A LITTLE RESPECT AND CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DO.

I PLAYED A LONG TIME AGO, ON UNDEFEATED TEAMS AS WELL AS SOME WITH 3 OR 4 WINS. HAD YOU CALLED ANY OF MY TEAMS POWDER PUFF TEAMS BECAUSE OF OUR CONFERENCE WE PLAYED IN OR OUR RECORD (WE DID NOT HAVE PLAYOFFS THEN) I CAN ASSURE YOU, YOUR CLASSLESS ATTITUDE AND OPINION WOULD BE PICKING ITSELF UP OFF OF THE GROUND FROM A PERFECTLY LEGAL PANCAKE BLOCK, NOT HIDDEN BEHIND A PEN NAME AND THROWING RABBIT PUNCHES FROM BEHIND SOMEONES BACK.

It’s the same way everywhere you go in the smaller school classes of High School Football. The PEOPLE make the difference. It may well be that the person who goes by: 2A playoffs is weak, has missed a very special part of life, that so many of us have learned to appreciate.
