Maroa has won its first-round game in five straight seasons. But Carlinville carries a hot hand coming into this matchup.

MTF good luck in your 1st round game! Go Okaw! nothing else needs to be said…………………………..yet!
October 26th, 2009 at 1:47 pm
TROJANS need to come out Friday night and play like the team has committed to playing. Don’t worry about the weather, don’t worry about the crowd, NO silly penalties, take care of the ball, and believe in each other. YOU CAN DO IT! MAKE IT HAPPEN!
======
GO TROJANS!!!!!!!!!!
October 26th, 2009 at 3:16 pm
First of all, I can speak about Carlinville having personally see them play in Pana this year, They beat the Panthers 13-0. I believe the Trojans will win this game handily, If…
#1. They contain Josh Rives, Darnell Scott, and Bobby Simmons. These 3 are a handfull at running back. Scott can bull someone over and Rives and Simmons have game-changing, break away speed. The Cavies Quarterback Zac Dixon can sling the ball if need be, but they do not pass a whole lot from what I saw…
#2. The Trojans must really take advantage of short, quick passes that will for sure be open. Carlinville has, quite frankly, atrocious pass defense and I look for the passing game to be the Trojans showcase.
#3. The Cavaliers have a stout kicker and he can hit kicks from close to 50 out. No exaggeration. If the wind is blowing the right way, he could probably hit from 55.
Wish I could say the South Central Conference would have a better representation in this game, but there’s no chance.
Maroa-Forsyth 42
Carlinville 7

Ok Trojans the time is here for you guys to play for your ranking. Lets show every1 that the Trojans are for real! Go Trojans!
October 26th, 2009 at 7:25 pm
good luck trojans! i hope you show them what okaw football is all about.
October 27th, 2009 at 9:43 am
This is the best time of the year 1A,2A,3A football play-offs. I hope all the OKAW teams success and a deep push in the play-offs. GO DAWGS, GO CAM, GO TUSCOLA, GO UNITY, GO MONTICELLO, AND AS PAINFULL AS IT IS GO MF TROJANS
October 27th, 2009 at 7:40 pm
Pana Grad: Thanks for some information on Carlinville; quite frankly I know absolutely nothing about the football program. I certainly agree with you that if pass defense is NOT Carlinville’s strength, that should be helpful for the Trojans. I am hoping for a clear, cool, no wind, dry field Friday for a “change”. Otherwise, let it snow! GO TROJANS! FIGHT ON!
October 27th, 2009 at 7:44 pm
A&M is Back: My best to your Raiders in the playoffs. Also, congratulations on your Raiders being the Okaw Blue representative according to the IHSA, based on CAM having the highest playoff points vs. Tuscola or Maroa-Forsyth. Let’s hope both our teams can meet in the q-finals, even if its on your home field! Go CAM, Go Okaw!
October 27th, 2009 at 7:48 pm
Dawg House: my best to your St. T “DAWGS” in their first round playoff matchup vs. Auburn. I witnessed Auburn playing twice last year, & both QB Michael Bates & running back Ryan Gardner are both OUTSTANDING players! Go DAWGS, Go Okaw!
October 27th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
You were on the sports on tuesday nite. sorry you lost two games this yr because your not that good. Sorry to tell you that. Should of lost to am as well. Your team will not make it pass the second round. Your not that good of a team. You have played your best!
October 27th, 2009 at 10:07 pm
wand tv, sorry that you are such a sorry person. The Trojans will do their best, if they don’t get past the second round, or first for that matter, life will go on. They will then root for the remaining Okaw teams in the playoffs. Thanks for your usual “Mr. Positive” attitude. You are a real JEWEL, with your constant beating down of student athletes that are attempting to succeed in the sport of football. We just don’t know how we have got this far without your support. We are trying to keep focused on the Carlinville game, please take your garbage somewhere else, we don’t want it here.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:10 am
wand tv: show a little repsect, would you? Also, it’s “should have”, not “should of” and “You’re” not “your”. At least if YOU’RE going to post, proofread it first and show some class. People won’t pay attention to you if they can’t understand what YOU’RE trying to say.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:40 am
WAND go and get on another BLOG… Get a life and grow up. Good luck to all the OKAW teams!!!
October 28th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
wand tv must be a Unity fan cause they are the only good team in the Okaw according to him. They are the only undefeated team and every other team as atleast 2 losses. If wand is a st.t. fan then he is just ignorant. St.T has 2 losses, and is lucky to not have 4. They really should of loss to Tuscola and Maroa. I could go on with the other teams too if he is a fan of some one else but most likely he is a ignorant St.T. fan.

Bust a Trogan: You sound like a 5th grade school teacher. Very good english and grammer well done.
October 28th, 2009 at 1:44 pm
I am sorry Trojan perfect!
October 28th, 2009 at 3:40 pm
hmmmm sounds like we have some haters on here still that needs a lesson in grammar and manners! I am not going to get all crappy about the first round but I do look for MF to come out swinging for the bleachers! Sounds like more rain in the forecast for Friday, I wonder if MF could build a dome for the rest of the season?
October 28th, 2009 at 5:34 pm
clown: stop making excuses for the field condition. Somebody told me they saw the sprinkler system on all day, hahaha.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
lets go OVC teams and show these other guys what its like to play in a conference like ours
October 28th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
ovc is a very strong conference, but MF better look back to last year and the bleachers they swung out of in the playoffs..lol!!!

north of maroa: I just don’t like reading blogs where people try to act tough even though they can’t spell or use proper English
October 29th, 2009 at 9:26 am
north of maroa: Sorry….forgot a period after English. LOL!
October 29th, 2009 at 10:58 am
well since it is playoff time i am going to lay off a little of the trojan faithful….with that being said…i think you have about the easiest road to the qrtrs. out of any of the teams in 2A. i of course am rooting for the okaw to do well, and certain teams more specifically, but i will wish to you at this point a healthy and injury free journey.
Bust a….sorry i didnt capitalize : )
October 29th, 2009 at 11:20 am
The rain will play A HUGE factor in the game friday night. This game will be closer than most people think. The rain will be to carlinvilles advantage because they run 90% of the time. I still think MF will win this game but it will be closer to do a wet field. MF 24 carlinville 14.
October 29th, 2009 at 1:34 pm
Hello, well I pulled some strings and got the Trojan faithful to let me put my Big Top over the field in Maroa! It is tarped and ready for the rain! Game time 730pm Friday night!
October 29th, 2009 at 6:06 pm
Go MFT and all Okaw teams!
Show’em what we are all about!
October 29th, 2009 at 8:38 pm
Good luck MF..looking forward to seeing you in the semis..
October 30th, 2009 at 6:21 am
Looking for a old-school battle tonight and a wet field should help the Trojans. Coventry scores twice! MF all over Carlinville 42-13.
October 30th, 2009 at 8:15 am
This game will be a dogfight. I’ll take the Trojans by 2 TD’s.
cw warrior fn: you better make the trip to Maroa tonight because that’s as close as you are going to get to seeing them.
October 30th, 2009 at 8:30 am
BAT: So….what you’re saying is that MF will lose this one, right??
October 30th, 2009 at 8:54 am
cwalum: Obviously they don’t teach reading in Casey or Westfield. Read my second sentence again.
October 30th, 2009 at 9:04 am
actually CWALUM you should come to MF tonight to get schooled on HOW TO WATER DOWN THE FIELD (mother nature style) LOL………..
October 30th, 2009 at 9:05 am
BAT: If you mean English, yes they do. Mind-Reading they do not. Are you saying Casey loses before the semi’s or that MF does? And please don’t say CAM will be there, hahaha.
October 30th, 2009 at 9:07 am
just4fun: no schooling necessary, thanks. We’ve got a swamp going down here already. We won’t even have to fire up the firetrucks this year.
October 30th, 2009 at 9:09 am
keep firetrucks on stand-by for the next home game……… wouldn’t want to have a dry game!
October 30th, 2009 at 9:15 am
just4fun: honestly, it’s not gonna dry out all season!
October 30th, 2009 at 10:05 am
gameday! gotta love it! Go Trojans!
October 30th, 2009 at 10:16 am
Clown, I thought you were kidding. I just drove up to Maroa, and the field is tarped. Good work!! Dunt dunt dunt-a-lana dunt dunt dunta!!!! Go T-rojans….
October 30th, 2009 at 12:57 pm
If we could just get Casey to pump out that pond they call a football field we’d be on the right track around here. haha.
-
I think the rain slows down Carlinville’s speedy RB and the mighty Trojans dominate this one. I’m taking mTf 35-7.
October 30th, 2009 at 1:27 pm
Well, the last time I said MF would win you guys didn’t even score. But, I’m taking MF 28-10. Oh no, I bet I just jinxed the whole damn thing! lol
October 30th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
tick..tock..tick…tock…almost game time…roll back the tarp…let’s get it on!

October 30th, 2009 at 8:10 pm
24-7..MTF …1 quarter and 4 minutes till Carlinville boards the bus…schooled by the Okaw!
October 30th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
31-7 MTF ..7 minutes left…no more updates needed…we know where this is ending up. loop-t-lou your guess of 42-13 seems to be the best…but you might of gave Carlinville to much credit!
October 30th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
good job trojans way to show em some okaw ball.
October 30th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
Thanks for the updates A@M is back.
way to go trojans!!!
October 30th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
MTF great win…dont forget to thank all the other okaw teams that helped you be ready…some have given us grief for talking up the conference..but perfect example is Mt. Zion 9-0 …ousted tonight! Why…their competion was 27-54..nothing to measure from..
October 30th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
Yes indeed, thanks to all, for the great support. The Trojans gave a very solid defensive effort. The offense ran the ball well, and completed some crucial passes. The field was decent, considering the heavy rains. The tarps were a great idea. No injuries were observed for either team. Good Luck to all other Okaw teams Saturday. Go get em….Okaw Valley Conference!!!
October 31st, 2009 at 1:12 am
I was at the game tonight and I witnessed a great game played by Dalton Coventry. I watched him lead his team on the field tonight and you could just sense he was ready to tear someone up. 19 carries for 120 yards. and hey..I did guess a score of 42-7 Maroa..I got the 7 right. Great job by the Trojans defense tonight of holding the Cavies running game in check. Rives, most of the time, is a handfull, but tonight he was held to only 64 yards. Good Luck in the 2nd round to the Trojans.
October 31st, 2009 at 4:48 am
Way to go Trojans! Way to put a team away early and what a great job done by the lineman! This is the team I have been waiting for all year! Dalton is starting to emerge as a vocal leader which is what we needed! I am really impressed with how they made changes to our Defense and the kids are stepping up to play, thats for sure! Now kids get dried off practice hard this week, no rain in the forecast! We have a few more steps to go!
October 31st, 2009 at 6:27 am
still not impressed with leaving the starters in till the end of the game!!! you have the game won….get the kids off that messy playground and dont risk getting anyone from the starting team injured…why would an oh so great coach do that??? i have my version…lets hear yours.
October 31st, 2009 at 7:24 am
RE: yea right
Always has to be one negative person in the crowd. MF took out its starters with 3:50 left in the game. Considering this is the playoffs, that’s a lot of time left on the clock. If you were there, the 2nd team did not get a first down and after only a few plays Carlinville moved the ball 50 yards in a short amount of time. Find something else to complain about.
October 31st, 2009 at 7:25 am
YEA RIGHT WHAT GAME ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? THE SPARKLING CLEAN UNIFORMS ON THE FIELD NEAR THE 5 MINUTE MARK OF THE 4TH QTR WOULD INDICATE THE STARTERS WERE OUT. AS WELL, YOU NEVER SEEM TO HAVE A LACK OF INPUT (GENERALLY NEGATIVE) BUT YOU NEVER PUBLISH YOUR COACHING RESUME. THEREFORE NOT ALOT OF CREDIBILITY IN YOUR OPINION. THAT IS MY VERSION.
GOOD JOB TROJANS, THE BEST TACKLING PERFORMANCE OF THE SEASON THUS FAR. DO NOT KNOW WHO IS RESPONSIBLE BUT A MUCH BETTER TEAM EFFORT OF WRAPPING THE LEGS AND NOT REACHING AND ARM TACKLING LIKE THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON. FEWER PENALTIES AND MISSED ASSIGNMENTS, BALANCED OFFENSE IS THE KEY TO SCORING. THE PASS MAKES THE RUN WORK AND THE RUN MAKES THE PASS WORK. TAKE A CLUE FROM MZ, DO NOT OVERLOOK ANY TEAM. WHAT THEY ARE ON PAPER IS NOT WHAT THEY ARE ON TURF. ESPECIALLY IN THE PLAYOFFS.
October 31st, 2009 at 7:37 am
Wow that Carlinville team was HORRIBLE! I’m not taking anything away from the Trojans, they played a great game and like I said Coventry will take that team as far as they will go. The defense looked much improved but they still must limit their mistakes (fumbles, interceptions, and penalties). Those would prove much more costly against a good team. If that Carlinville team beat Pana 13-0, then that tells you what that conference is like. They were scrappy but they didn’t have the talent. Their Quarterback couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn and he wasn’t much of a punter either. But….I’m really looking forward to the match-ups today. Good luck to all teams!
October 31st, 2009 at 8:22 am
After watching the game last night, I came to this conclusion as far as the talent of Carlinville.
Carlinville Cavies = Argenta-Oreana Bombers (healthy)
That is not a slam against either program, just an observation. Feel free to discuss this with thoughtful input.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:41 am
Congrats to the Cavies on a good season. Just from watching last nights game, I could tell the players were very respectful. Keep your heads up Carlinville, and keep on trucking Trojans.
October 31st, 2009 at 5:52 pm
Wow, Bismark pulls the upset over Staunton and gets to move on. OK, does anyone know how they determine who is home or away? Lets go Trojans, practice hard get healthy and take care of business!
October 31st, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Maroa is at Bismark since Maroa had a home game and Bismark traveled to Staunton.
October 31st, 2009 at 7:12 pm
Show em how its done trojans, hope to see you in the quarters, A&M has a test this week.
November 1st, 2009 at 10:05 am
Nice work, Trojans!! I think we can all agree that the might Gold & Blue hurrican had the most impressive win in the first round of all the local teams.
-
On to Bismarck to keep the road to Champaign alive.
-
You haters have to be getting nervous. Maroa should handle Bismarck. Then a possible rematch with A&M which is winnable and then another semi against Casey. You guys might just have to start accepting that mTf may end up back on the turf.
November 1st, 2009 at 10:37 am
TG, Don’t even get it started, I think our competition was not nearly as good as what the rest of the teams had to play against. Some of the other teams also faced problems that they often think that only we have. They can now see that their teams and coaches are also human. We need to continue to focus on one game at a time, that’s all! For whatever team ends up there, I have to say that Casey is the team to beat. They were extremely rugged against us last year, and we just couldn’t answer when we were in critical field position. They have most of that team back this year, they’ve got to be tough! But as I have stated, it’s one game at a time. This week it’s Bismark-Henning, been many years since we went up there for a Trojan victory. Lets do it again Trojans!! What do you say! Go T-rojans!! Good Luck to all of the Okaw teams in the second round. Let’s keeep it clean and show support for each other.
November 1st, 2009 at 1:33 pm
Voice of Trojans, I have to disagree with you. I think we are really starting to play like what I thought we could. We have everyone back and also found a couple of weapons along the way. Casey does not have everyone back. They loss a lot of their players to graduation. I just really do believe that they do not play anyone. Much like Mt Zion. Nothing against their program just the conference that they are in. I do agree with you that our focus better be Bismark! Or they will have 2 upsets under their belts! Way to go OVC 5-1 in first round play. Did any other conference go perfect to beat the OVC?
November 1st, 2009 at 4:38 pm
Bismark will be like a healthy AO from the okaw.. if MF takes care of business this game will not be close. MF 38-BH 12. Good luck to all the okaw teams this year.. Staunton must have played a poor game to lose to BH….
November 1st, 2009 at 6:50 pm
Clown: you are right, Casey does not have everyone back and there are no guarantees we’ll be in the semis either. We have a couple of very tough teams to get by first, so one game at a time from Casey’s standpoint. MF, by far, should have the easiest game again next saturday. One thing most people don’t understand about Casey though, not the same team as last year but one hell of a good defense. You remember Tuscola right? that’s what you’ll see from Casey if we do meet up again. Good luck fellas although I don’t think you need it right now.
November 8th, 2009 at 3:53 am
I read the H & R growing up, but after seeing the garbage they allow people to post on here, I have lost all respect for the newspaper. Players read these blogs. These are high school kids, not professionals. Some of you should be downright ashamed for your comments. Would you walk up to your opponent on the street and tell them to their face what you say on here? Well, they read your comments. Only you hide behind a nickname. Blogs like this are nothing but trash and have no place on a newspaper’s website.
