'Funny Girl' up next at Little Theatre

SULLIVAN - The musical "Funny Girl" opens Wednesday at the Little Theatre-On the Square.

The play, which tells the story of the rise to success of comic Fanny Brice, runs through July 19.

"Funny Girl" features Jillian Zygo as Fanny Brice..;Zygo currently is playing Julia Sullivan in "The Wedding Singer" and played Georgie in "The Full Monty" last year at the Little Theatre.

Playing Nick Arnstein is Jeffrey Max, Sammy in the Little Theatre's "The Wedding Singer."

Little Theatre favorite Glory Kissel plays Fanny's mother. Michael Weaver plays Tom Keeney, the owner of the theatre where Fanny got her first professional break. Eddie Schnecker will be playing the role of Eddie Ryan, Fanny's first choreographer and best friend.

Chelsea Waller plays Emma, Fanny's dresser. Michael Haws.;returns to The Little Theatre to appear as Florenz Ziegfeld, and J. Michael Zygo will play the Ziegfeld Tenor.

Told mostly in flashbacks, the musical shows Fanny before she is discovered by showman Ziegfeld, follows her through her first triumph in the Zeigfeld Follies, her marriage to gangster Nick Arnstein and the break-up of that marriage after Nick finds himself in trouble with the law.

Making up the rest of the cast are Clinton Sherwood, Johnathan White, Sam Hay, Matt Munson, Zach Gray, Ethan Carpenter,.;LoriAnn Freda, Eleni Kanalos, Marish Wallace, Kira Josephson, Ashley Colon, Michelle Ogdon, Heather Dore' Johnson and Melissa Weaver. Little Theatre artistic director M. Seth Reines serves as director for "Funny Girl."

Shows are at 2 and 8 p.m. Wednesday, 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 4 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $28 and are available by calling the box office at 728-7375.
