SULLIVAN - The musical "Singin' in the Rain" will open the 52nd summer season of the Little Theatre-On the Square.

The stage adaptation of the classic Gene Kelly movie will be presented June 10 to 21.

Next in the 2009 summer lineup will be another motion picture adaptation, "The Wedding Singer." The play, based on the 1998 film starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, will run from June 24 to July 5.

The third show will be "Funny Girl," playing July 8 to 19. The musical that propelled Barbra Steisand to stardom features such songs as "People" and "Don't Rain on My Parade."

"The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" plays July 22 to Aug. 2. The high-spirited musical is the story of Miss Mona and the "ladies" of the legendary Chicken Ranch, which the governor of Texas orders closed down.

The season ends with a stage adaptation of the hit Disney Channel Original Movie, "High School Musical." Troy and Gabriella undergo peer pressure when following their dreams and end up winning the lead roles in the big school show and a place in each other's hearts. It plays Aug. 5 to 16.
