SULLIVAN - Jason Loete and Cassandra Liveris star in the musical "My Fair Lady," the second production of the 50th anniversary season at The Little Theatre-On the Square.
The play opens Wednesday and runs through July 8.
Loete will play the role of Henry Higgins, and Cassandra Liveris stars as Eliza Doolittle, the Cockney flower girl.
"My Fair Lady".;is based on Pygmalion, a 1913 play by George Bernard Shaw. The musical version, with music by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, opened on Broadway in 1956 with Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews in the starring roles and won 10 Tony Awards.
The story of "My Fair Lady".;centers on the relationship between phoneticist Higgins and his student, Eliza. Musical numbers include "I Could Have Danced All Night," "Get Me to the Church on Time," "The Rain in Spain," "Wouldn't It Be Loverly?" and "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face."
Eric Johnson plays Alfred P. Doolittle, Patrick McCarthy plays Colonel Pickering, Cheryl Ann Sanders plays Mrs. Pearce, Patrick Shaw plays Freddy Eynsford-Hill, and Glory Kissel plays Higgins' mother.
"My Fair Lady" is directed by Marc Ciemiewicz and choreographed by Courtney Self. Scenic design is by Alex M. Gaines, lighting design by Joe Spratt, sound design by David J. Scobbie and costume design by John P. White. with costumes coordinated by Emilee McVey. Jason Yarcho serves as musical director.
Show times are 8 p.m. Tuesday, 2 and 8 p.m. Wednesday, 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 4 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday..;There is no 8 p.m. show Wednesday, July 4.
