Decatur's Theatre 7 is offering a series of theatrical production workshops in July.
All workshops are at 7 p.m. except where noted. They include:
n Lighting design techniques, Wednesday, July 16, at the Decatur Civic Center Theater.
Bill Keagle will inform participants of various techniques used in stage lighting, including using different types of lights, timing, color, and texture, and also discuss how to design a lighting plot for a production.
n Audition workshop, Thursday, July 17, at Schmalz Rehearsal Hall, Theatre 7 Building, 131 N. Water St.
This workshop, led by director Anne Thompson, is intended for those considering auditioning for a theatrical production. She will explain the Theatre 7 audition processes, and give tips for giving a great audition.
n Introduction to the Stage, Wednesday, July 23, at Schmalz Rehearsal Hall.
Andrew Curry will lead participants of this workshop in a variety of exercises to familiarize them with the basics of stage terminology and some basic acting skills.
n Stage Makeup Techniques, Thursday, July 24.
RCC theatre instructor Michelle Stevens will give both male and female participants a opportunity to learn about applying basic stage makeup and also include a few special effects techniques.
n Costuming Techniques, Saturday, July 26, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Costume Shop, Theatre 7 Building.
An opportunity to tour the Theatre 7 costume shop and be instructed in some basic sewing skills, and learn about techniques used to design a costume plot for a production.
n Improvisational Acting, Wednesday, July 30, Schmalz Rehearsal Hall.
Doug Bishop and Andrew Curry lead the workshop.
n Set Construction & Painting Techniques, Thursday, July 31, Scene Shop, Theatre 7 Building.
Learn how to use the most common tools needed in building a set, as well as some construction and paint texturing techniques commonly used in the theatre.
The workshops are open to anyone who is interested at a cost of $5 per workshop. Theatre 7 members may attend for free. Theatre 7 membership is $15.
