DECATUR - Two men implicated for methamphetamine manufacturing at a house in the 2400 block of East North Street have pleaded guilty to charges filed following their March 6 arrests by Decatur police.

Rory T. Arthur, 21, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a Class X felony involving possession of methamphetamine, while David C. Habitch, 26, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a Class 1 felony of unlawful participation in methamphetamine manufacture.

As part of his plea bargain with the state's attorney, Arthur immediately was sentenced by Circuit Judge Katherine McCarthy to 12 years in prison. She sentenced Habitch to nine years in prison following his plea.

Both men and two women, Charity A. Light, 28, also known as Charity Rivera; and Reanna Davis, 31, also known as Reanna Hollensbe, were scheduled to go on trial this week on 11 felony drug charges, some of them super Class X felonies that carry prison terms of 15 to 60 years if convicted.

Light and Davis appeared in court Wednesday and asked that their trials be continued. McCarthy set their pretrial hearings for July 3.

The quartet was charged with methamphetamine-related child endangerment after Davis' three children, ages 3, 6 and 9, and Light's child, age 2, were found in the North Street residence when police served a search warrant.

Police found 1,157.1 grams of liquid methamphetamine in the house, Decatur police detective Rick Hughes said in a sworn statement filed in court. The drug was in various stages of production, he said.

A meth lab was found in the basement of the house. Police said the smell of chemicals from cooking meth was so strong in the residence that officers entering it wore protective gear.
