DECATUR - A 46-year-old Decatur man who was reported missing on Monday was found dead in his car outside a Peoria hospital at about 9 a.m. Thursday.

The cause of death of Michael T. Hudson could not be determined by an autopsy performed on Friday in Peoria, said Johnna Ingersoll, Peoria County coroner. Tests for toxic substances will be done, but those tests will take several weeks to complete, she said.

Hudson was pronounced dead at 9:54 a.m. Thursday, Ingersoll said.

A Decatur landlord who owned a construction and remodeling company, Hudson was last seen Saturday morning when he left for work.

Decatur police Sgt. Gary Buenting said Hudson's girlfriend filed a missing person report on him at 4:31 p.m. Monday.

Peoria police Sgt. Ken Orwig said the death remained under investigation Friday.

"We have a detective in Decatur now and another one at the autopsy," Orwig said. "We're still piecing things together."

Hudson's car was parked in a no parking zone outside Methodist Medical Center in the 1100 block of Hamilton Boulevard in Peoria, Orwig said. He could not confirm reports from several of Hudson's Decatur acquaintances that the vehicle had a number of tickets on the windshield for parking violations.

Peoria Police Department information officer Ann Ruggles said a passerby saw a foot pressed against the glass of a rear window and reported it to hospital security officers who discovered the body. She said Hudson was found lying on the rear seat of his car.
