Time is running out on the 10-year run of the S&K Menswear store at Hickory Point Mall in Forsyth.
The store is set to close in January after the company evaluated its locations and slated about 60 stores for closure across the country.
"We decided to make the really tough decision to go ahead and let our lease run out and close that location," said Howard Rose, S&K vice president of real estate. "We took this opportunity in a down economy to really aggressively plan for the future and plan for a successful 2009."
With the stores that are kept open, the Richmond, Va.-based company hopes to target younger customers with Rose saying it's doing well with sportswear, jeans and tuxedo rental.
All of the merchandise is being sold, with sales of more than 50 percent off on most items, Rose said.
The economy caused the company to start closing stores, Rose said.
"If we didn't do it, we might have been looking at closing a lot more than 60 stores," Rose said. "We're being proactive in order to take care of as many customers and associates as we can."
S&K Menswear has been open at Hickory Point Mall since 1998.

Ricardo Onate saw his business grow when he opened Decatur's Mexican restaurant El Matador. So he opened another one in likeness of the restaurant across town on Eldorado Street.
But he saw that he was competing for business with himself.
Onate's response was to change the second restaurant into an all-day breakfast venue.
El Caporal, which was opened in 2001, has received a new name, a revised menu and eventually will get a change in decor, Onate said.
Eldorado American Grill is open for business at 1044 W. Eldorado St., which was formerly occupied by Dairy Queen.
"I changed the restaurant because there are so many Mexican restaurants and not enough breakfast places on this side of town," Onate said. "We thank our customers from El Caporal still coming in to eat with us."
The restaurant serves breakfast items from pancakes to omelets and French toast to waffles. Lunch and dinner items include steak, seafood, pasta, cold and hot sandwiches and a selection of Mexican dinners.
The restaurant is open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
