One of two taxi cab companies serving the city of Decatur has had its license suspended.

The city suspended Champaign-based Illini Taxi last month for failure to provide proof their vehicles had been inspected by a licensed inspector.

The move leaves AOK TNI Taxi as the only taxi service currently licensed in Decatur.

As a result, AOK owner Anthony Walker said he has had to double many aspects of the business.

"The next day after we found out about it, we had to step up to the plate and meet the demands of transportation for the city," Walker said.

He bought two new taxis and now has six drivers working each day. The business, which is headquartered at Eldorado Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, also now has four drivers working in the evening instead of two, Walker said.

Walker had just last year jumped into the taxi business after providing limousine and airport shuttle service for many years.

AOK offers taxi services 24 hours, 7 days per week. Call 330-7771.

We all have one.

A co-worker's desk that looks like it could be an extra in an "Indiana Jones" movie. It is so cluttered, you are sure an archeological dig would turn up the Holy Grail. How do they find anything? More importantly, how do they get any work done?

The Business Journal and Striglos Office Equipment are teaming up to give your co-worker the recognition he (or she) deserves.

Enter your co-worker in our Messiest Desk Contest to join in the hunt for free stuff and advice to get his workspace organized.

The process is simple.

It begins with a picture of your co-worker's desk, which can be submitted by going to www.thebusiness-journal.com.

Don't have access to a computer? No problem. Pictures also can be mailed to Messiest Desk, c/o Scott Perry, Box 311, Decatur, IL 62525.
