Diners hunting for a fresh-caught meal now have a new spot to go fishing - Greg's Fish Market at 237 S. Jasper St. in Decatur.
Owner Greg Broadnax opened the business Aug. 15 and has been welcoming a steady stream of customers who crave river delicacies such as buffalo fish, catfish and catfish fillet, catfish nuggets and tilapia. He also stocks jumbo shrimp and crab legs and several land-based delicacies such as polish sausage, chicken and mountain oysters.
"I have the stuff people ask for," said Broadnax, 38. "And that buffalo is my number one seller; I can't keep it in here and go through up to 400 pounds of it a week."
Raised in Decatur, Broadnax had been working for Wal-Mart in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, before returning home to start his business.
"I love fish, and this was something I wanted to do," he said. "And I can see other people love fish here, too."
For an extra charge, customers can cook their fish right on the premises, using deep fat fryers and sample the Broadnax seasoning mix, which he says has won rave reviews. If all goes well, Broadnax plans to expand with stores in Champaign and Bloomington next year.
Greg's Fish Market is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. Winter hours, which begin Nov. 15, will see the store closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Before U Print Inc. is busy writing a successful new chapter in its business plan.
The company, started 17 years ago in Cheri Bassana's basement, recently moved from Decatur to a new, purpose-built headquarters at 425 Sunset Court in Mount Zion.
Bassana said the more than 2,000 square feet of space is double what the business had before and makes life much more comfortable for her and the two full-time graphic artists.
"It's really neat to have our own building," she said.
Before U Print specializes in graphic design for print media and handles anything from company brochures to stationery and magazines. Bassana said customers come back because they like the eye-appeal her company delivers.
"We go for the 'wow' factor," she said. "People can see the talent our artists have in producing that wow factor to draw attention to their company."
Before U Print can be reached on 864-3456.
