Come Monday morning, Regions Bank will have a brand-new home in downtown Decatur. Plans call for the bank to close at 2 p.m. today to complete the move over the weekend to the Reynolds Building, 350 N. Water St.

"We're all boxed up," said Tim Hill, executive vice president for the bank's Illinois and western Kentucky area. "The last three or four weeks, everybody's been preparing. It's like cleaning out a closet. It seems to never end."

Hill is eager to see how customers respond to the new space, which he calls a more modern environment. The new location will house both the drive-through that had been at Main and Church streets and the office that had been at 100 S. Water St.

The drive-through will continue to be open Saturdays. The new location also will feature a drive-up ATM.

"It's just a spectacular space," Hill said. "We're anxious to see how the customers respond. Hopefully, they'll like it as well."

A grand opening will be Nov. 20, during a Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce After Hours event, Hill said.

The bank is the first of two tenants to move into the new building. Work continues on the Consociate/ Dansig office.

An eatery on Decatur's east side is staying open under new ownership.

The new owner of the Cow Depot, 3767 East U.S. 36, said not to expect any major changes to the menu.

"It's still open, and we're carrying on the tradition of the menu," said Terry Munson, who also owns the bar Mac's Tackle Box. "A lot of people were worried about us totally changing the menu around. Right now, we're keeping things as they are."

The Cow Depot serves a variety of items including salads, daily specials, pies, cakes, soups, ice cream and "a lot of stuff dealing with cows," Munson said.

A banquet room with seating for up to 30 is next door.

It is currently open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, with plans to possibly open for breakfast in the future.

Take-out orders are available.
