DECATUR - A 53-year-old Mount Pulaski man who died Sunday evening in a two-vehicle accident at School Road and U.S. 51 was identified Monday as Terry L. Westen.

Macon County Coroner Michael E. Day said Westen died from massive internal injuries and torso trauma suffered in the crash. He said routine toxicology testing is underway at the Illinois State Police Crime Laboratory. An inquest is pending.

Westen was pronounced dead at 7:41 p.m. Sunday at Decatur Memorial Hospital after being extricated from his sports utility vehicle by firefighters from the Maroa Countryside Fire Protection District.

Sheriff's deputies said it appeared Westen's westbound vehicle on School Road failed to halt at the stop sign for U.S. 51 and struck a southbound pickup truck on the highway.
