With artwork by artists from as far away as India, China and Russia, the Beacon Art Gallery will have an International Art Exhibit this month as part of the community International Arts Experience.

An opening reception is scheduled from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 6, at the gallery, 201 N. Main St.

"It seems to be a pretty diverse show we've put together so far," said Rick McCoy, owner of the gallery.

McCoy said the exhibit started with just three artists. Then, by networking, he was able to add more.

"If I get one artist, I try to talk to them about who they know," he said.

Also represented in the exhibit are artists from Romania, Japan, Malaysia, Korea and South America. Artwork includes sculptures, jewelry, paintings and drawings.

"The work we got from each artist is vastly different from one another," he said. "It's all looking pretty neat."

The Beacon Art Gallery also will have an Art and Wine Night with the Decatur Ad Club from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at the gallery.

All events are free and open to the public. Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
