MacArthur graduate Moe Dampeer's future at Oklahoma appears to be in question.
A Fort Worth Star-Telegram story Thursday quoted Sooners coach Bob Stoops as saying the 6-foot-3, 300-pound redshirt freshman would not dress for Saturday's game against Texas Tech and "may not be on the team from here on out" because of a lack of effort on the practice field and in the classroom.
Kenny Mossman, director of media relations for football at the school said the problems with Dampeer have not just materialized.
"There is a long list of areas of responsibility in a program such as Oklahoma, and really in any college program today, and Moe just hasn't lived up to them," Mossman said. "It's disappointing because it's not the first time that the coaching staff has been unhappy with Moe, because Moe appears to have a lot of talent and because the program could use some depth at the position."
The Sooners dismissed defensive tackle Dusty Dvoracek earlier this year and another defensive lineman, Calvin Thibodeaux, was lost for the season with a knee injury against Oregon two weeks ago giving the Sooners and three-man rotation on the defensive line. Mossman said he hasn't seen that few of players at the position in the six years he's been there.
Dampeer, who dressed for the Oregon game, has not yet played a down for the Sooners.
