DETROIT - Despite losing the game 23-17 to Western Michigan Saturday, several individual Illini players moved up in the record book.
n Linebacker Brit Miller of Decatur recorded a career-best 17 tackles and has 110 tackles on the season including 33 tackles for loss. The Big Ten Conference tackling leader moves into a tie for ninth on the Illini career list with Jerry Schumacher (1999-2002).
n Quarterback Juice Williams had 396 total yards (328 passing, 68 rushing). Those numbers move him up five spots on the school's single-season total offense list and into second place with 3,356 yards. He now trails only Tony Eason's school record total of 3,671 yards set in 1982.
n With one touchdown pass Saturday, Williams has 20 on the season, which moves him into a tie for fifth on the school's single-season TD passing list with Tony Eason (1981). Williams also has 42 touchdown passes in his career, tied with Jason Verduzco for third all-time.
n Sophomore receiver Arrelious Benn had seven catches for 111 yards to move up to seventh on both the Illinois single-season and career receiving lists. Benn has 947 yards on the year and 1,623 for his career. It was also Benn's seventh 100-yard receiving game of the season, one shy of the record of six held by David Williams (1984 and 1985) and Brandon Lloyd (2001).
